Bac Lieu will build a gas power plant of over VND91 trillion

Bac Lieu People’s Committee and Energy Capital Vietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the project to supply LNG (liquefied natural gas) and gas power plants in the coastal of Bac Lieu province.

Accordingly, the project to supply LNG and gas power plants built in the coastal area of ​​Bac Lieu with a total capacity of 3,200 MW, total investment of about VND91,400 billion Vietnam (equivalent to $4 billion).

The project will be implemented from 2018 to 2027, divided into 3 phases.

Phase 1, completed construction of power plant capacity of 1,000 MW, is expected to start in 2018, put into operation by the end of 2021.

Phase 2, construction of additional power plant with a capacity of 1,000 MW, put into operation by the end of 2024.

Phase 3, additional construction of gas power plant of 1,200 MW capacity, put into operation in 2027.

The project will be built on an area of ​​100 hectares. The specific construction location is determined based on the study and assessment of the location in accordance with the requirements of the project, avoiding the use of protective forest.

It is said that this is the largest gas power project in the Mekong Delta was introduced and progressed to sign the memorandum.

According to the leadership of Bac Lieu People’s Committee, the development of the project is in line with the national energy development strategy as well as the actual situation in the locality, especially when the Prime Minister approves the province to withdraw the project.
