Cau Pagoda is a pagoda located on the bridge crossing a small creek in the ancient town of Hoi An. The bridge was built by Japanese traders in the early 17th century, so people here call it the Japanese pagoda.
According to legend, this temple was seen as a sword plunging down the back of the mamazu monster, making it unable to tear the tail and cause earthquakes.
In 1653, a pagoda was added, connecting it to the northern railings, protruding in the middle of the bridge so that the locals would call it Cau Pagoda. This is the only architecture considered to be of Japanese origin.

In 1719, the lord Nguyen visited Hoi An and named the bridge Lai Vien Kieu, meaning “welcome guests far away.”
According to the date recorded on the roof beams and the remaining letters at the bridge, the bridge was rebuilt in 1817. The temple was probably reconstructed at this time.
The temple has been restored many times through 1817, 1865, 1915, 1986 and it also gradually lost the elements of Japanese architecture, but instead is the style of Vietnamese, Chinese.
On February 17, 1990, Hoi An Bridge was granted the National Historical-Cultural Relic.
Being pumped through the creek to the Thu Bon River, located at the junction between Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Tran Phu, Cau Pagoda is one of the architectural relics are quite special bold Vietnamese.

Cau Pagoda was officially recognized as a national historical-cultural monument in 1990. The Cau Pagoda is a very useful tourist destination with what it brings.
