Da Nang: Son Tra District Becomes A Grade 1 Administrative Unit

The Ministry of Domestic Affairs has officially issued Decision No. 2518 / QD-BNV regulating the classification of administrative units of Son Tra district (Da Nang city) from grade 2 to grade 1 since August 30, 2017.

According to the Resolution No. 1211/2016 / UBTVQH13 dated 25/5/2016 of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Assembly, to become a district administrative unit of type 1, it must reach over 75 points.

In comparison with this regulation, the five basic criteria are population size, natural area, administrative units (wards), level of socio-economic development and some specific factors; Son Tra district has reached 79 points (100 points).

Specifically, the scale of Son Tra district is composed of the resident population and temporary population (converted) with a total of 217,879 people, the administrative units under 7 are the ward, natural area is 63.39sq km, etc.

Regarding the level of socio-economic development in the district, the target of self-balancing local budget revenues and expenditures in three years was 68%; the proportion of industry, construction, and services in the economic structure reached 95.25%; the rate of trained workers accounts for 70.5% of the working-age population, the percentage of wards reaching the national health care criteria reached 100%; 100% of households have access to clean water; the average poverty rate in the three years is only 1.22%.

So far, Son Tra is a third-place grade 1 district of Da Nang city, after Lien Chieu and Hai Chau districts.

Son Tra district is known to be established in January 1997, it has a special position in Da Nang City, separated from Hai Chau District by a river to the west, adjacent to Ngu Hanh Son district to the south, its north and east side face the East Sea.

Son Tra is an important economic center, with Tien Sa seaport being the gate of international economic relations not only of Da Nang city but also of the Central region, the Central Highlands and Laos and North East Thailand, Myanmar. With Son Tra nature reserve area, a beautiful coastline with many large coral beaches, Son Tra has favorable conditions for economic exchange and tourism development based on ecotourism and sea tourism.
