Deputy Prime Minister asked Binh Phuoc to review all BOT transport projects

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has just commented on the implementation of BOT projects in Binh Phuoc province.

At the proposal of the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province on the feedback of press information on the implementation of BOT projects in the province, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc to review all investment projects in the province. The BOT form falls under its approving competence for adjusting the service charge rates for road use under the Government’s resolutions.

The Prime Minister requests security and order at service stations using land roads in the form of BOT contracts under the Official Letter No. 82 / CĐ-TTg dated January 18, 2018 of the Prime Minister.

Binh Phuoc to review all BOT transport projects

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transport to assume the prime responsibility and work with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province to reach agreement on the settlement plan for the Dong Phu-Binh Duong BOT project; To report to the Prime Minister on matters falling beyond its competence.

According to the Department of Transport of Binh Phuoc province, by the end of 2017, the province has called for investment and put into use 5 road BOT. These five BOT projects, although only a total length of more than 168 km bridge, road has seven toll stations payback.

Thus, in the area of ​​Binh Phuoc, more than 24km a BOT. Remarkably, only BOT invested in 32.3 km of roads, but Binh Phuoc Infrastructure Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company has been approved by competent authorities to accept 2 stations fee.

In a recent development, the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province also approved and started construction of Dong Phu – Binh Duong road in Dong Phu district in the form of BOT with total investment capital of VND1,480 billions.

BOT road in Dong Phu – Binh Duong province has a total length of 41km, the intersection of national highway 14 at Km 946, Dong Tam commune (Dong Phu district), Tan Lap quarry between Binh Phuoc and Binh Duong provinces.

This project, shortly after being approved, has caused a lot of controversy between the authorities and potential risks of unrest, affecting the lives of people in the region and the media.

The target of constructing Dong Phu – Binh Duong road in accordance with the approved plan in order to perfect the traffic network, ensuring the transportation demand for Dong Phu urban – service – industrial zone, facilitating Linking economic infrastructure development of localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong to Binh Phuoc and the Central Highlands provinces.

However, in fact, with the high density of toll stations already installed, the same high rates have pushed up freight rates, reducing the company’s competitiveness

If the Dong Phu – Binh Duong road is put into operation, the number of toll booths for BOT projects in Binh Phuoc will be further thickened and economic efficiency has not been clearly verified.

This new route is paralleled with National Road 14 from Bridge 38 to Dong Xoai Town (Binh Phuoc Province) which has been upgraded and expanded in the form of BOT.
