District People’s Committees Will Chair The Handling Of Old Condominiums

The District People’s Committee will do the work that was formerly under the authority of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and other departments in dealing with the old apartment.

On October 12, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has approved the proposal of the Department of Construction on the assignment, authorized to renovate and build new apartment buildings to replace damaged old apartment.

Accordingly, the work under the authority of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City will consider authorizing the district People’s Committee to implement. The work assigned by the departments is also considered for the district People’s Committee implementation.

The HCM City People’s Committee requests the departments to supplement the assigned contents and authorize the district People’s Committees to renovate and build new apartment buildings in replacement of old damaged apartments and relocate households. People live on and along the canals. Then send to General Department of Construction, update the draft assignment decision, authorization.

The Construction Department shall have to sum up and finalize the draft assignment and authorization decision and plan on organizing the renovation and construction of a new apartment building in replacement of the old one which is seriously damaged and transferred to the provincial/municipal Justice Service for appraisal. Then submit to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in October 2016.

According to statistics from the Department of Construction, Ho Chi Minh City has 474 old condominiums built before 1975. Of which, 44 old condominiums were heavily damaged, dangerous with the remaining quality ratio is less than 55 % and rank the highest danger level. The 44 most damaged apartments are distributed in 15 districts.

Some of the damaged and dangerous condominiums are mainly located in District 1, District 3, District 5, District 10, Tan Binh District … as: Co Giang (District 1), 11 Vo Van Tan (District 3), 727 Tran Hung Dao (District 5), 813 Nguyen Trai(District 5), 01 Đao Tan (District 5), Ngo Gia Tu( District 10),  350 Hoang Van Thu and 47 Long Hung (Tan Binh District),

According to the plan, by 2020, HCMC will complete dismantling and investment in new construction of at least 50% of the 474 former condominiums mentioned above.
