Dong Nai wants to invest VND5,700 billion to build a bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh with Nhon Trach district

Dong Nai People’s Committee has proposed to build Cat Lai Bridge, connecting from District 2 to Ho Chi Minh City to Nhon Trach. Dong Nai will be the investor of this project.

According to the design, Cat Lai Bridge will be built across the Dong Nai River, connecting District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. With Phu Huu Commune, Nhon Trach District.

Cat Lai Bridge has a total length of 4.5km and a cross-section of 60m, 6 lanes and 2 mixed lanes with planned road. This is the main urban street designed at speeds of 80 km / h.

Total investment with 4 lanes is about VND5,700 billion, of which VND2,25 billion is allocated for both localities. The proposed investor is BOT, within 23.7 years. Investors also suggested that the two provinces support about VND2,000 billion of this VND5,700 billion to clear the ground.

The Cat Lai Bridge project will be built to create favorable conditions for Phu Huu, Dai Phuoc and Phu Dong communes of Nhon Trach district to develop. In these districts, some projects are attracting investment such as inter-port road to develop port group 5. According to the plan, the inter-port road is nearly 15 km long, passing through the communes of Dai Phuoc and Phu Huu Phu, Phuoc Khanh and Vinh Thanh.

Road will connect 15 ports have been invested under the plan of seaport group 5 East South. In addition, Phu Huu II Port (opposite Cat Lai Port) has a planned wharf of 2km, 20.000 DWT ships and many other projects awaiting deployment. When there are Cat Lai bridges, the traffic projects here will be more convenient to connect to the communes in the North – West of Nhon Trach.

According to the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province, based on the demand for socio-economic development, the province needs more Cat Lai Bridge because it will facilitate the travel and transportation of goods from the Long Thanh Industrial Zone, Nhon Trach ports in the city and vice versa.

In addition, in the process of developing new urban areas, if there is Cat Lai bridge, the local socio-economic development will develop faster, especially to attract real estate projects, trade services and attract more people to Nhon Trach.

As planned by the province, by 2026, Nhon Trach will become a second class city, but the most difficult criterion is that the population must increase more than 2 times compared to the current time.

From the actual demand, more than a year ago, the People’s Committee. Ho Chi Minh City has proposed the Prime Minister to supplement the planning to build Cat Lai bridge to replace the current ferry. The petition was approved by the Prime Minister in August 2017.
