Geleximco would like to cooperate with china partners to construct long thanh airport

Hanoi General Import Export Joint Stock Company (Geleximco) has proposed to the Prime Minister to agree in principle on the investment of the construction of Long Thanh International Airport in the form of State-private partnerships.

In the writing document submitted to the Prime Minister, Geleximco Chairman Vu Van Tien said that the firm has close relationship with some of China’s major enterprises, such as KAIDI New Energy Corporation which is specialized in investment, construction and operation of energy projects and infrastructure in Vietnam; some large investment funds such as Huarong Asset Management Corporation of China- a state-owned corporation with total assets of more than USD 250 billion which have the capacity and management experience in asset management and investment, Rensheng Investment JSC and large investment group in Hong Kong such as IDG …

“With the capacity, rich experience and financial strength in the current difficult financial situation of other investors, we recommend to the Prime Minister to agree in principle to invest in projects on building Long Thanh international airport in the form of state-private partnership,” suggested Geleximco’s Chairman.

Geleximco leadership also emphasized that with experience in implementing, building and managing investment projects on transportation and airport as well as the ability to mobilize funds for the project,we ensure that the progress of Long Thanh international airport will finish on schedule with the construction period for putting into operation from 3 -5 years with the lowest investment cost for a new modern airport.

“At the time of being launched, Long Thanh Airport will attract a lot of businesses, including Geleximco,” Tien said.

Geleximco is a multidisciplinary enterprise specializing in real estate, banking, information technology, commerce … Before proposing to participate in this project, the company continually requested the Ministry of Transport to accept it to invest in a series of large transport infrastructure projects such as North – South expressway , the part of Thanh Hoa – Ha Tinh and Ho Chi Minh City – Khanh Hoa, Ha Long – Van Don – Mong Cai expressways, North – South express railway … and especially the company is assigned by the Prime Minister to cooperate with some other groups to prepare the plan of urban area at two sides of Hong river.

Long Thanh International Airport has an evoking land area of ​​5,000 hectares, in which land for constructing the airport’s infrastructure is 2,750 hectares. The project is located in 6 communes: Binh Son, Suoi Trau, Cam Duong, Long An, Long Phuoc and Bau Can (Long Thanh district). Upon completion, Long Thanh Airport is 40 km from Ho Chi Minh City center, 30 km from Bien Hoa.

The whole has affected more than 4,700 households, the first phase alone has affected nearly 1,900 households. Most of the cleared land is of over 1,800 hectares of rubber plantation land managed by state-owned enterprises.
