Four serious rail traffic accidents in the past few days killed two people, injured 11, many locomotives, wagons and hundreds of meters of heavily damaged railroads costing billions of dollars, paralyzed the North-South railway for many hours.

On the seriousness of the problem, Deputy Prime Minister – Chairman of National Traffic Safety Committee Truong Hoa Binh has directed the Ministry of Transport, Police and local authorities to implement a number of solutions.

Specifically, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Transport to direct the functional agencies and the Vietnam Railways Corporation to coordinate with localities to promptly investigate causes and strictly handle organizations and individuals. For the provincial traffic safety boards, the deputy prime ministers shall direct the provincial / municipal Road Safety Departments to pass the railway to strictly implement Directive No. 33 / CT-TTg dated Dated July 21, 2017 of the Prime Minister on enhancing the management and restoration of road and railway safety corridors; To coordinate with socio-political organizations in popularizing propaganda to grassroots levels and residential areas.
