HCMC: Ben Thanh Metro Line – Suoi Tien Railway Started Being Constructed

HCM City Railway Management Board and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have started construction of the railway system under Package 3, Metro Line Project 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien). The section from the Binh Thai crossroad to the overpass of Hanoi Highway is the first railway installed.

Commencement of construction of the railway system of Metro 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien)

To date, the contractor completed the technical design of 10/11 sub-items and is conducting production, manufacturing, procurement to put into construction, installation of a rail system. Total volume is estimated at 22%.

The project of Metro 1 is 19.7km long and is divided into 3 construction packages and 1 electromechanical contractor. Up to now, the total project volume is estimated at 43%.

Package 2 was started in 2012, built 17.1km of the high way from Ba Son to Suoi Tien, with 11 terminals and Long Binh Depot (station maintenance technician locomotive ). Up to now, the main construction volume is about 72%.

Package 1b, from Ho Chi Minh City Theater Theater to Ba Son, including 2 underground stations and 781m excavated by TBM shield, started from August 2014. Particularly TBM drilling machine drilling into the ground from 26-5-2017 is expected to 31-10 to the City Theater. Total realized volume is estimated at 53%.

Package 1a, including Ben Thanh Central Station and an underground section from Ben Thanh Station to the Opera House, is under construction from November to 2016. So far, total volume is estimated at 18%.

With the length, nearly 20 km, Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien Metro line passes through Districts 1, 2, 9, Binh Thanh, Thu Duc (HCMC) and Di An District (Binh Duong). Of these, there are 2.6 km underground (3 stations) and more than 17 km (11 stations). The project is expected to be put into operation in 2020.
