According to the HCM City Department of Transportation, this is due to the increasing traffic of mixed traffic through Cat Lai ferry. On the other hand, the flow of goods from the industrial zones along National Highway 51 and Nhon Trach urban area … is transported along the Hanoi Highway to the port system on the Saigon River more and more causing traffic jams via the Hanoi Highway.
Therefore, the City People’s Committee. Ho Chi Minh City has proposed to the Prime Minister to supplement the transport planning of Ho Chi Minh City until 2020 and the vision after 2020. Then, the road traffic will connect directly to District 2 with Nhon Trach through Cat Lai bridge.
Cat Lai Bridge has a connection point with My Thot intersection on Ring Road 2 in District 2 and the endpoint connects to Provincial Road 25B, about 1km away from Cat Lai ferry. The total length of the bridge and the access road to the bridge is about 4.5 km, in which the section crossing the river about 750m.
Cat Lai Bridge construction project has a total investment of more than VND5,700 billion. In particular, the cost of compensation for ground clearance is about VND1,225 billion. At present, there are more than 45,000 vehicles and passengers traveling on Cat Lai ferry.
The construction of a bridge to replace Binh Khanh ferry will form a direct connection with the southern area of Ho Chi Minh City to promote the advantages of the locality, create transport services convenient and effective.
Binh Khanh bridge has the first point at the intersection of Huynh Tan Phat – storehouse C and the endpoint connected to Sac forest. The total length of bridge and bridge to the bridge about 5.8 km.
Road parallel to National Highway 50 has the first point in Pham Hung Street with Cay Khot Canal bridge in Nha Be district and the endpoint connected to Highway 50 of Can Giuoc district. Total length is about 8.6 km.
HCM City Department of Transportation adds that the construction of a parallel road with National Highway 50 will form an inter-regional link to increase traffic capacity among provinces in the southern key economic region.
