On December 12, Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, Le Van Khoa, chaired the Interdisciplinary Working Group meeting on submergence flooding. At the meeting, Trung Nam Group proposed the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to supplement the construction of two traffic bridges at Muong Chuoi drainage tunnel and Cay Kho drain to serve the travel of Nha Be residents.
The bridges in the Muong Chuoi tributary with the capital of VND 155 billion and the bridge in the Cai Khe drainage area with the capital of VND 267 billion. If approved by Ho Chi Minh City, Trung Nam Group will construct bridges simultaneously with tidal control sluice. Bridge capital will be invested by the Trung Nam Group in the form of BT.
Trung Nam Group is implementing the project to prevent tide flooding with consideration of climate change stage 1 with investment capital of nearly VND10,000 billion. About the progress of the project, Trung Nam Group said that the main items of the project are being urgently implemented.
In particular, there are six tidal sewers with the width of 40-160 m. A pumping station at Ben Nghe sewer with a capacity of 12 m3 / sec. One pump station at Tan Thuan sewer with a capacity of 24 m3 / sec and a pump station at Phu Dinh sewer with a capacity of 18 m3 / sec.
In addition, the Trung Nam Group will build a dike along the Saigon River from Vam Thuat River to Kinh River, phase 1 with a length of nearly 8 km and 25 small slices with a 1-10 m span from Vam Thuat River to Muong River. Banana.
The site is located in districts 1, 4, 7, 8 and two districts of Nha Be and Binh Chanh, with a total land area of 100 ha. The project must clear more than 300 households with more than 1,500 displaced people.
At present, six gates between Ben Nghe, Tan Thuan, Phu Xuan, Muong Chuoi, Cay Kho and Phu Dinh have completed 6% -20%. The dike surrounding the river nearly 8 km also completed 17%.
After four months of operation, the total amount of Trung Nam was nearly VND1,500 billion.It is expected that the project will be put into use in April -2018.
Mr. Le Van Khoa said that due to the important nature of the flood control project, the departments will study the proposal of the Trung Nam Group before submitting to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for approval. This is a large project, which helps to reduce tidal flooding in the basin of 570 sqkm in the inner city and is supervised by tens of millions of people in Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, as we have already informed, the City Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City have just assigned departments, districts to review and supplement the construction and implementation of the program to reduce water submergence period 2016-2020. The goal of the program is to address the inundation situation in the center of Ho Chi Minh City and part of the 570 sqkm sub-basin with about 6.5 million people.
At the same time improve the water environment, increase water storage space and create an urban landscape, contributing to improving people’s lives, environmental protection Ho Chi Minh City.
