Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, when the project needs to design interchanges at Ham Nghi, Nguyen Hue, Ton Duc Thang and Khanh Hoi roads. Ho Chi Minh City also allowed the extension of the study line to coincide with the existing port boundary. The expansion of Bach Dang Port in the direction not to reduce the width of the Saigon River.

Nguyen Thanh Phong also requested the Saigon Tourist Corporation to study the underground part of Vietcombank building and the Renaissance hotel on Me Linh Square, connecting in a synchronous way with the hydro-taxi system, metro line 1 and Bus 1.

Bach Dang Port will be renovated to be a place for entertainment and recreation for people in Ho Chi Minh City

The Bach Dang Port Renovation Project was approved by Saigon People’s Committee in mid-2013 to invest in the exploitation and management of Bach Dang wharf.

In April 2015, Ho Chi Minh City banned the hydrofoil, boat and tourist restaurants anchoring at Bach Dang Port to renovate and embellish them according to the plan. However, since then the project has not been started.

At that time, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also instructed the Department of Transportation to coordinate with related departments and District 1 to review and report on the status of operation of inland waterway wharves in Bach Dang port area.

At the same time, assess the impact of the stoppage of these marinas on tourism development and socio-economic development in HCMC. From there, the proposal of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee to consider and decide.

Saigon Tourism Corporation must complete the embellishment planning, model exploitation, utilization, and management of Bach Dang Port Park. This park must meet the needs of tourism on the river, a place of enjoyment, fun, entertainment of the people of Ho Chi Minh City.

In July, HCMC handed over to the People’s Committee of District 1 to manage and invite investors to participate in the construction of Bach Dang Port. However, after meeting with departments in mid-December, Nguyen Thanh Phong decided to hand over to Saigon Tourism Corporation as a focal point to continue the project of embellishing Bach Dang Park.

According to the 1/500 master plan, Bach Dang Port Park is designed in harmony with the central square of Thu Thiem New Urban Area on the other side of the river and in harmony with the buildings and landscape in the area… In particular, the Uncle Ho Monument works in Nguyen Hue pedestrian street as a highlight in the area.

Before transferring to Sai Gon Tourism Corporation, Van Thinh Phat Investment Group Joint Stock Company also proposed to pay for the detailed planning of 1/500 scale and to invest in the park project- Bach Dang Tourism Port with an area of 17.08 ha.

Of which, the land area is 7.02 ha and the water surface area is 10.06ha with the main functions including the park, underground trade center, underground parking, technical infrastructure, perimeter, dock, tourist terminal …

Van Thinh Phat Group has also applied for investment in the underground trade center, underground parking and allowed to exploit a number of kiosks in the park but the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City did not agree.
