On December 22, HCM City People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with People’s Committee of District 1 and other relevant agencies to review and submit to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City about the termination of the market of Nguyen Van Trang, Ben Ward City.

The People’s Committee of District 1 has the responsibility to study and develop the support plan and terminate the operation of Nguyen Van Trang Market.

At the same time, the HCM City People’s Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with People’s Committee of District 1 and related units to quickly resolve the clearance of Ton That Dam market, Ben Nghe after 2018 Dinh Dau.

Ton That Dam market is also called Old Market, located on Ton That Dam Street, District 1. At present, 215 small traders have stalls trading in Ton That Dam area. This market has existed for more than 30 years.

According to the People’s Committee of District 1, the policy of relocating Ton That Dam has been planned since 2009. Ton That Dam Market is one of the three listed markets to be cleared for lying on the road, causing the disorder. The market includes Nguyen Van Trang street in Ben Thanh Ward, Nancy market in Da Kao ward and Ton That Dam market in Ben Nghe Ward.

In these three markets, the People’s Committee of District 1 organizes the clearance of Ton That Dam in advance to ensure fire prevention and fighting, traffic safety and open ventilation for Hoa Binh Primary School No. 2 located on this route.
