Therefore, in the 2016-2020 period, HCM City will continue to invest in the construction of 39 social housing projects with a land area of ​​140.41ha with the scale of over 44,700 units, striving to complete about 30,000 units. There are 8 projects started with more than 4,200 units, 12 projects have approved nearly 12,000 investment and 19 projects have investors or investment policy.

To achieve the set targets, the Department of Construction proposed the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee assigned districts to review the land fund to adjust the planning, clean land fund to build social housing for rent.

At the same time, it allows swap of public land fund with the area of over 1 ha to be leased to social-owned houses for lease to those who are not eligible for social housing urban renovation projects or relocation along canals.

The Department of Construction also advises the City People’s Committee to recommend the Government to implement a preferential loan policy for enterprises to invest in the development of social housing. Adjust the interest rate for the purchase of social housing 3-3.5% / year, the minimum loan period is 20 years, the grace period from 6 months to 3 years that the borrower has not paid interest.
