Ho Chi Minh City piloted 5 points to take taxi

HCM City People’s Committee has just assigned People’s Committee of District 1 in coordination with the Department of Transport Ho Chi Minh City open pilot five fixed taxi spots in the central area, where crowds.

Accordingly, the People’s Committee of District 1 proposes to open fixed taxi stations including: front gate Children’s Hospital 2 on Ly Tu Trong Street; front gate of Galaxy Nguyen Du; in front of Children’s Hospital 2, No. 37 Nguyen Du; in front of the InterContinental Hotel on Nguyen Du Street.

At the taxi pick up point, passengers need to take a taxi just to these locations, focus and call the car.

Taxi stops, taxi stands, waiting areas are reasonably arranged on the sidewalks, stop signs stop at this area. Taxis will stop on the line and take about two minutes to pick up and drop off.

According to District 1, the need to build a fixed taxi spot is because of the time taxi status to stop picking up, dropping passengers not in the right place has caused increased traffic jam in the central area.

The construction of fixed taxi stops will be one of the solutions to rectify and put this type of transport into order. Pilot time in six months, then will evaluate and if successful will replicate this model.

For early implementation, the People’s Committee of District 1 has worked with the HCM City Taxi Association, investors to discuss ways of investing and recovering capital from the exploitation of advertising at taxi points.

Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that on 8 August Ho Chi Minh City will deploy the first taxi and pick up in District 1.
