Ho Chi Minh City Takes Back 322ha Of Land To Plant Trees, Reduces The Smell Of The South Area


The HCMC People’s Committee has just issued a report to the Prime Minister on the problem of foul odor pollution in some areas in the south of the city.

By monitoring the activities of the emission sources in the area, the City People’s Committee has identified the ability to spread odors affecting the residential areas of some wards in District 7, Binh Chanh district, Nha Be district is from cells which are receiving garbage and the wastewater tank of Vietnam Waste Solution, Inc (VWS). In addition, the project of Saigon Green Biotech Co., Ltd., Hoa Binh Urban Environmental Services Company also has a slight odor.

The City People’s Committee has asked investors to implement 8 sets of a method to ensure environmental quality and the rule of law. Particularly requires the units operating waste treatment in the waste treatment complex and Da Phuoc cemetery implements strictly measures to protect the environment.

In addition, the City People’s Committee also directed departments and sectors to expeditiously carry out compensation and land clearance activities and takes back 322 ha of land to implement the green belt project to reduce foul odor.

City People’s Committee continues to direct the units to take measures to overcome thoroughly, stop the spread of odor from Da Phuoc. In next time, it will speed up the construction of the HCMC – Long An interprovincial waste treatment complex in Long An province to gradually reduce the load for this solid waste treatment plant.

This complex has a total area of 614 hectares, has compensation for land clearance of 292 hectares, the remaining 322 hectares are being compensated to make isolated trees. Here, there is a domestic waste treatment plant owned by VWS; sludge treatment plant invested by Sai Gon Green Company; Septic tank sludge treatment plant invested by Hoa Binh Urban Environmental Services Company, Ltd; The cemetery is invested by City Urban Environment Company, Ltd.
