Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of Hoi An city (Quang Nam), said the locality rejected the proposal of NVN Group Corporation to make a cable car over the Thu Bon river 7 km long with investment capital up to VND2100 billion.
According to HCM City chairman, Hoi An, after the joint stock company NVN proposed cable car, the provincial People’s Committee has written official opinion survey. However, Hoi An did not agree because the project took too much land.
“Moreover, the construction of the cable car will affect the urban landscape and the heritage of Hoi An ancient town,” Mr.Dung said.
Previously, NVN Group proposed to make a cable car longer than 7km with the first point from Thanh Ha ward (Cam Kim commune, Hoi An city) crossing Thu Bon river with Duy Nghia commune (Duy Xuyen district) .
According to calculations of the investor, the entire length of 7.6 km across 9 towers with the height from the base to the peak is from 65m to 80m; 3 stations; 2 parking lots. Total investment of the project is VND 2,150 billion.
If the cable car project is implemented, visitors will have the opportunity to admire the beauty of Thu Bon River – Thanh Ha Pottery Village – Hoi An Ancient Town and Kim Bong Cam Kim Village from 45m to 50m with the Thu Bon River.
Notably, to carry cable car on, Hoi An and Duy Xuyen district must give this enterprise more than 100ha of land.
After listening to the information of enterprises want to make cable car across the Thu Bon River, Mr. Nguyen The, former Secretary of Hoi An City Committee, confirmed this project is impossible. “If I put the cable car to travel as investors say I was the first opposition, and change the land is not a penny land here,” said Mr.Su.
