On October 13^th, the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province has issued a decision to sanction an administrative violation of Hon Rua Ecological Co., Ltd.

Because of a series of violations when implementing the project of afforestation and seaweed ecology combined ecotourism Hon Rua Island (belonging to Nha Trang Bay).

Accordingly, Khanh Hoa province fined $3,200 for Hon Rau Ecological Co., Ltd for dumping land and encroachment on Nha Trang Bay at Hon Rua Island with an area of 12,870.7 sqm outside the project boundary; a fine of $2,000 for acts of constructing internal roads outside the assigned boundary with an area of 1,068 sqm; a fine of $700 for acts of failing to make and sending environmental management plans according to regulations; a fine of $2,300 for acts of failing to implement environmental monitoring programs.

In the decision to impose sanctions, the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee requests the investor to immediately stop the acts mentioned above and at the same time be forced to restore the original state before October 16^th, 1977.

Prior to that, as reported, the Champarama Resort & Spa Resort project of the Champarama Resort Joint Stock Company was also fined $4,800 for dumping more than 17,000 sqm of land, slipping into Nha Trang Bay and failing to supervise the ambient air environment and coastal waters according to the environmental impact assessment report approved by Khanh Hoa People’s Committee.

Nha Trang Bay is a national monument. Any change in the status quo must comply with the Heritage Law. However, over time, this bay appeared many projects encroachment sea, disregard the law.
