“For Hai Phong – Ha Long expressway BOT project, people have the right to choose to travel on this route or on the existing Road 10 to go to Quang Ninh. They have their own choice.”

That is the confirmation from Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee, Nguyen Duc Long at the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue on August 25 on the occasion of Deputy Prime Minister’s inspection to this project and Bach Dang bridge project which are developed in BOT form.

According to Quang Ninh’s authority, after three years of construction, a 20 km long highway linking Ha Long City with Hai Phong City at Bach Dang Bridge is coming the final stages to put into operation before the Lunar New Year 2018. Total investment of this project is over 13,000 billion.

The completion of Ha Long – Hai Phong expressway will shorten the distance between Ha Long and Hai Phong to 25 km, instead of about 70 km as currently. With a design speed of 100 km/h, connecting to Hai Phong – Hanoi expressway, it will be able shorten to 60 km from Ha Long to Hanoi and it takes only 90 minutes instead of 200 minutes as currently.

In addition, the highway will help to make the synchronized transport infrastructure connection between the routes, increase the flow of goods transported from Quang Ninh to the northern provinces and vice versa.

The project starts at Km 102 + 300 of Highway 18, belongs to Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province; its closing point at Km 25 + 214 which is the intersection of Ha Noi-Hai Phong Highway belonging to Dong Hai 2 Ward, Hai An District, Hai Phong City.

According to the design, this expressway has a total length of about 25 km, including 4 lanes, designed speed is 100 km/h. In which, the part connecting Ha Long with Bach Dang Bridge is 19.5 km long (expressway project connecting Ha Long with Bach Dang bridge) and the rest is of Bach Dang bridge with 5.45 km long.

At the inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue requested Quang Ninh province, investors, contractors to ensure the quality and schedule of works as committed to quickly put the project into operation to meet the demand of travelling and transportation of goods for people and enterprises. Contractors shall be especially concerned about labor safety, not to make mistakes, accidents for workers.

Also in the first quarter of 2018, along with the completion the project of Hai Phong-Ha Long expressway, Quang Ninh province must also complete Ha Long-Van Don expressway, Van Don airport.
