From June 1, HCMC began to charge cars parking under the road

Accordingly, HCMC will charge fees for cars parking under the road with the price from 20,000 to 30,000 VND per hour at 35 routes in the city.

Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation said that from June 1-6, the Department will proceed to charge car parking hourly increase at 35 routes in the area of ​​Ho Chi Minh City. Specifically, the rate from 20,000 to 30,000 dong / car for the first hour. With vehicles parked up to 5 hours, the fee can be up to 170,000 dong / car.

At present, HCM City is collecting the parking fee of 5,000 dong per day. However, this price will start to change from June 1. As such, the cost of stopping car parking on the roadbed is the highest of 30,000 dong / hour.

At the same time, this rate will increase progressively by the hour, not in turn as it currently applies to both groups of automobiles to nine seats, trucks under 1.5 tons and automobiles from 10 seats, Trucks over 1.5 tons to under 2.5 tons.

In addition, HCMC does not charge overnight parking (from 0 to 6 am). Depending on the traffic safety situation of a number of routes that specify the specific parking time.

According to the Department of Transport, the city has collected over 35 car parking fees, expected to earn VND31 billion per month.

According to the Department of Transportation, the increase in car parking fees is necessary, the increase will encourage people to send cars to the trade center to open the air passage.

Before March 16th, at the 7th meeting session of the People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City, the delegates unanimously approved the People’s Committee’s report about  adjusting the increase of fee for stopping cars on the road, pavement in the city.

Accordingly, from the beginning of June this year, HCMC allowed to increase the charge for cars under nine seats and trucks with a payload of less than 1.5 tons at the first hour price is 20,000-25,000 dong depending on the area and the progress of the hour.

The rates for cars from 10 seats to 16 seats and trucks with a total tonnage of over 1.5 tons and less than 2.5 tons are 25,000-30,000 dong depending on the area and accumulative parking hours.

Time frame from 6 am to 24 hours, no parking fees outside this time frame. The cars will be parked for long periods of time. Specifically, the highest fee 170,000 per car in the first 5 hours.
