Da Nang: 352 Million USD Is Needed To Restart The University Village Project

At the press conference on 19/9/2017 on the key guidelines and tasks of the Danang University in the academic year 2017 – 2018, the deputy director of Danang University Ngo Van Duong said, since the visit of the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Da Nang University in February 2017, the Prime Minister has concluded the direction to restart the project Danang University which has been “projected” for 20 years.

The Deputy Director of the Danang University also added that after working with the Prime Minister, the Danang University of has worked with the Ministry of Education as well as the Danang City People’s Committee and Quang Nam province to expedite the restart of the project.

In addition, the Danang University has coordinated with the Center for Land Development under the Department of the Natural Resources and Environment of Da Nang City and the People’s Committee of Dien Ngoc Commune, Quang Nam Province survey the status quo, preliminary assessment, on that basis to estimate the overall budget of the project.

Accordingly, the preliminary results show that the total cost of compensation, ground clearance and capital construction to deploy the project at about 352 million USD is too large and beyond the ability of the Danang University.

Specifically, the cost of compensation and ground clearance in the territory of the Quang Nam province is about 96.8 million USD, in the Da Nang area is about 352 million USD; The cost of the construction of the technical infrastructure is about 74.8 million USD; and the construction of subdivision about 132 million USD.

The Danang University has report the above details to the MoET and MPI and is currently awaiting the direction of the Government.

Along with that, the Danang University of is also looking for the consultant survey to develop detailed planning plan for the entire land area of this 286.5 ha project in accordance with the development strategy of the school.

At the same time, the member of the university is also collaborating with the Danang University to develop a strategy for the development of the Da Nang University up to 2025 with a vision to 2035. This is also the basis for the Da Nang University to adjust the detailed planning the Da Nang University Village project.

Also at this press conference, Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam, the Director of the Danang University, said that in the academic year 2017 – 2018, Da Nang University will continue to promote the preparation in all aspects to complete the scheme and procedures for the submission to the Government for consideration, the Establishment Division of the Technical Education University; Information and Communication Technology University.

In addition, the establishment of the Vietnam-UK University, Danang  University on the basis of the development of Vietnam-UK Research and Training Institute in combination with some high-tech fields of the member universities with the power of the Danang University and the support and cooperation of the Government of the United Kingdom.

At the same time, the accreditation of training programs of the Vietnamese and Southeast Asian universities will be strengthened; strengthening the research capacity and increasing the international publication (ISI, Scopus); developing  the special treatment regimes for the officials assigned to assume the prime responsibility for the performance of the national and international scientific and technological tasks.
