The Ministry of Defense refused to hand over 35 hectares of Kham Duc airport land to Quang Nam

The Ministry of Defense has written a comprehensive response to voter petitions. Accordingly, the ministry rejected the proposal to hand over 35 hectares of Kham Duc airport to Quang Nam for the local socio-economic development of the province’s voters.

Responding to the petition, the Ministry of Defense said Kham Duc airport was approved by the military-managed military zone planning in Military Zone 5 in the Prime Minister’s decision in 1997 and the government’s resolution of the year. 2014.

When local voters make a recommendation to return in 2016, the Ministry of Defense also has an official reply that “the transfer of Khâm Đức airport defense land to the locality will affect the defense mission of the military units”.

To meet the requirements of the mission, the Ministry of Defense has assigned the Air Defense and Air Force Command to chair the Military Zone 5 Command and functional agencies of the Ministry of Defense in co-ordinating with localities to formulate yard use planning. Aircraft landing for helicopter, training for combat readiness, flood and storm control, natural disaster mitigation, search and rescue; The area to be encroached shall be allocated to local authorities for use and management.

Over the past years, the Air Defense – Air Force and Military Region 5 have coordinated with the functional agencies of Quang Nam province to survey and measure the current situation to plan the use of the airport.

After the local authorities complete the survey of the airport, Ministry of Defense will complete the planning of using Kham Duc airport and “Will direct the unit hand over the area encroached for local manage and use”.

Accordingly, there are 13 households encroaching airport land for housing and agricultural production, an area of ​​about 17,100 sqm.
