As planned, the North East – South Expressway Project for 2017-2020 will be submitted to the National Assembly at the 4th Session, the 14th National Assembly opening next week.

North-south expressway construction is very important, connecting the political center of Hanoi capital and the economic center of Ho Chi Minh City, passing through the territory of 20 provinces and cities. It will affect 45% of the population, contribute 52% of GDP, affected 75% of seaports and 67% of economic zones of the country.

According to the Ministry of Transport, to ensure investment efficiency, ability to balance resources, the roadmap for North-South expressway investment is divided into 3 phases: 2017-2020; for the period 2021-2025 and the later 2025. The investment scope for the period 2017 – 2020 (713 km long) is very large scale.

The estimated total capital of the project is about 130,216 billion (in the period up to 2020, deploying 11 sections). Of which, 55 trillion dongs will be provided by the state budget, 63.716 trillion dongs from non-state budget capital (including equity capital of 12.743 trillion dongs and 50.973 trillion dongs).
