National Assembly delegation visited, worked the rubbish in Da Phuoc

In preparation for the upcoming National Assembly meeting, the delegation of the National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment visited and worked at the Da Phuoc solid waste complex Vietnam Waste Company Limited – VWS).

On the morning of May 2, the delegation led by Mr. Phan Xuan Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment together with representatives from MONRE, MARD, Ministry of Construction build and lead the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City to visit and work with four enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City, related to the management and treatment of domestic solid waste and animal waste treatment, including: Company Urban Environmental Limited Company, Tam Sinh Nghia Joint Stock Company, Vietstar Joint Stock Company and VWS.

At the meeting of the supervisory delegation of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Lan Phuong (Deputy General Director of VWS) introduced the construction investment process since 2006 and started the activities of receiving and treating garbage for Ho Chi Minh City since October2007. This is an investment project in the form of socialization, invested by David Duong (General Director of California Waste Solutions).

Phuong said that in the past 12 years, the Da Phuoc solid waste treatment complex has received nearly 70% of the city’s waste, helping the city solve unsolved environmental pollution problems. There are waste dumps and sanitation … And, today, Da Phuoc solid waste treatment complex is receiving 5,000 tons of waste from the collection in the city …

Ms. Phuong has made some suggestions and suggestions to solve the difficulties of the enterprise in the process of operation and operation, specifically:

• Ho Chi Minh City has not yet implemented the green belt of 322 hectares as committed in the contract, so VWS has to invest a lot more costs (not expected) to purchase more equipment, chemicals to Direct smelling control (cover the landfill, spray deodorant …). However, this solution is not effective when the weather is heavy rain, thunderstorms.
• There are still a number of households in the green belt project located next to the Da Phuoc solid waste treatment complex. VWS repeatedly sent a letter requesting Ho Chi Minh City to support and relocate these households to ensure their health and well-being and not to affect the construction and operation of the complex. At present, these households have not been compensated and cleared, so they often cause many forms of difficulties to the project.
• The competent agencies regularly inspect, inspect and control environmental protection, causing difficulties for enterprises. However, the competent authorities have not yet guided and have not helped enterprises timely update the new regulations, decrees and circulars of the Government, ministries …
• Regarding investment encouragement in the environmental field, the Government should treat and provide equitable treatment between domestic and foreign invested enterprises (VWS is an FDI enterprise), especially credit packages. The Interest rates on investment in the environment.
• From the beginning of 2017 up to 1.5 km (from National Highway 50 leading to Da Phuoc Solid Waste Treatment Complex), no road sweeps or rinses while 500 road vehicles Garbage in, out constantly, stinky smell, causing discomfort for passers and people around.
