On 7 September 2017, Begin Construction Of The Bridge Connected Diamond Island And Mai Chi Tho Avenue

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation, it is expected that on September 7th, the groundbreaking ceremony for bridge construction will be held to connect Diamond Island with Mai Chi Tho Avenue (District 2).

It is known that the bridge is more than 800m long, 27m wide (including 4 lanes) with the total investment of about VND 494 billion built on the Saigon riverside axis linking Thanh My Loi residential area to the Diamond Island apartment project, District 2. The construction is expected to be completed by 30 April 2018.

The city authority said that the construction of this bridge took place because Dong Van Cong Street was overloaded with the large traffic passing here, to the My Thuy intersection to the Belt 2 Road; In the future, development of Thanh My Loi urban area will increase the traffic on the axis of Dong Van Cong will cause serious congestion situation.

Bridge over the Diamond Island project will form a new traffic direction for vehicles through Mai Chi Tho, connecting Belt 2 Road (Phu My Bridge); it also contributes to reducing congestion on Dong Van Cong Street and the area around Cat Lai Port (District 2).

The items of the project include: construction of bridge over Diamond Island connecting Thanh My Loi residential area to Mai Chi Tho, with the length of bridge, bridgehead 454m and the connection road to the bridge is about 523m long; 2 new box culverts will be built at the left and right branches of the road leading to the bridge; construction of embankment section connecting to Binh Trung Tay Ward; construction of underpass linking to Diamond Island; Renovated intersection with Bat Nhan, Ta Hien street; Construction of road signaling system, waterway and some other technical infrastructure in synchronization with the route.

Previously on 25 August, Le Ngoc Hung – Director of urban traffic management board Number 2, Department of Transport said: “This is the first infrastructure of the city using the method of mobilizing capital from City budget combined with the contribution of real estate investors benefiting from the project.”

Traffic, finance and urban experts said that the City budget combined with the capital of real estate investors is a prime method of capital mobilization for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. Previously, The Brilliant Tower was the first phase of the project to complete the hand over to customers.

According to Rever, after the bridge over Diamond Island with Mai Chi Tho Avenue and the route connecting the riverside road running from Thanh My Loi to Mai Chi Tho was started, the price of this area is expected to increase strongly. • Construction of the bridge over Diamond Island (Sai Gon riverside section from Thanh My Loi residential area to Mai Chi Tho street), District 2.
• Construction of An Phu intersection (phase 1); The parallel road to the highway Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh – Dau Giay (from Do Xuan Hop to An Phu intersection).
