Particularly, in 2017, there were 1,007 fires in the city, killing 26 people, injuring 44 people, losing about VND92.5 billion in assets. On March 23, 2018, a major fire occurred, causing serious damage to people and property at Carina Plaza on Vo Van Kiet Street, Ward 16, District 8, killing 13 and 51 people. Mr. Le Hoang Chau made three recommendations to improve legal norms on fire prevention of apartment buildings and high buildings. Thirdly, it is recommended that the Ministry of Construction promulgate sooner or later the construction standards of Vietnam, taking into account the increasing number of apartments on 30 floors.
