Relocation Stage 126 To Get The Metro Station Building

After 30 years of operation, Theater 126 has to move to the new location to get the land for the metro station for line 3B from Cong Hoa junction to Hiep Binh Phuoc.

On December 20, representatives of the 126 Theater said that the stage would be relocated to Datong Cinema at Cao Thang Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. Expected, the new stage 126 will be built modern with eight floors in an area of over 2,000 m2. The new stage will have more capabilities and no outdoor model anymore.

Theater 126 was established in 1986. Later this month, the stage will celebrate its 30th anniversary. 126 and Dong Drum are now the two largest outdoor stages in Ho Chi Minh City.

126 is one of the two biggest outdoor stages in Ho Chi Minh City with the capacity of 2,500 seats. This is a familiar venue, associated with many Vietnamese artists over 30 years.

According to the management of urban railway in HCM City, Theater 126 is the place to build the metro station number 3b, from Cong Hoa crossroad to Hiep Binh Phuoc. The project is aligned with: Cong Hoa Junction – Nguyen Thi Minh Khai – Xo Viet Nghe Tinh – Highway 13 – Hiep Binh Phuoc.

The total length of Route 3b is about 12.2 km. Of which there is 9.1 km underground and 3.1 km elevated with 10 stations. Depot will be located in Hiep Binh Phuoc, Thu Duc district with an area of 16.87 ha. Total investment is $ 1.87 billion.

Currently, the project has been registered by the People’s Committee of the list of ODA projects funded by the Government of Japan in the period 2016-2018. At the same time, through the basic design. The demarcation records have been approved and handed over to the local planning management.

In the future, the metro route 3b is oriented to connect with Thu Dau Mot Town of Binh Duong province from Hiep Binh and go along Highway 13, connecting with the urban railway No. 1 of Binh Duong province.
