Request to complete long thanh airport design

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has just directed on selecting the architectural design of the construction of the terminal of Long Thanh International Airport.

According to a notice from the Government’s Office conveying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, the investment project of Long Thanh International Airport is an important national project that is received a lot of attraction from the Government and citizens.

The project’s investment policy was adopted by the 13th National Assembly at its 9th session in the Resolution No. 94/2015/QH13 dated June 25, 2015. The project is a major transport project playing an important role in the socio-economic development of the country and contributes to reducing traffic congestion in Tan Son Nhat Airport, Ho Chi Minh City.

The selection of architectural design plan has been made in accordance with the provisions of law; At the same time, in the selecting process, the community, scientists, socio-professional organizations, professional associations … have contributed opinions and voted.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transportation to assume the prime responsibility and coordinate with the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and professional associations including the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Association for planning urban development of Vietnam and the Vietnam Aviation -Technology -Science Association and relevant agencies to complete architectural design plans already examined and approved by the Minister of Transportation during the process of preparing the report on feasibility study for Phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport.

The selection of the consultancy unit to prepare the report on feasibility study for Phase 1 of Long Thanh International Airport is implemented in accordance with the relevant provisions of law.

The Ministry of Transportation assume the prime responsibility and coordinate with the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and professional associations to discuss and agree on awarding architectural designs for the construction of terminal of Long Thanh International Airport according to the provisions of law and the regulations of the Examination Council for architecture of Long Thanh airport.

Earlier, in late April, the Ministry of Transportation has submitted the Prime Minister the plan originated from the lotus flower for Long Thanh Airport design. This plan is graded the highest by the consultancy group including 26 experts from the ministries and professional associations.

The lotus project is one of three options chosen by experts and citizens, including the LT-07 plan (Nipa leaf) of the CPG Partnership among Singapore, Vietnam and Japan; LT-03 plan (lotus) of HEERIM, Korea and LT-04 plan (bamboo) of the Japan Airport Consultants Partnership between Japan and France.
