(+84) 898 898 688At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Dong said recently, Italy has decided to provide financial support through non-refundable ODA to deploy two technical assistance projects for Vietnam, including: Project Feasibility study on the management, organization and upgrading of railway infrastructure, worth about EUR 198,000; Feasibility study, development and modernization of the existing railway network in Vietnam, worth about EUR 97,000.
Up to now, these two projects have completed the draft report at the beginning of the period and will implement the next steps in the coming time.
According to Deputy Minister Ival Scalfarotto, Italian capital investment in Vietnam has reached 350 million euros. Italian companies are currently involved in urban highways and subway projects in Vietnam.
In addition, Italy provided financial support to deploy two technical assistance to improve the infrastructure capacity and management of the Vietnam Railways.
“In the field of aviation, Italy is very interested in infrastructure development projects such as expanding Tan Son Nhat airport and building the new Long Thanh airport,” said Ival Scalfarotto.
The need for tourism and trade between Vietnam and Italy is on the rise, Deputy Minister of Transport Ival Scalfarotto said that it is time to study the establishment of direct flights between the two countries.
“We hope that in the coming time, the two sides will strive to promote cooperation and turn the potential into reality, bringing about concrete results, contributing to boosting the relationship between Vietnam and Italy. In depth, more substantive, “said Ival Scalfarotto.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Dong affirmed that Vietnam is paying great attention to the development of infrastructure, including transport infrastructure. However, due to budget constraints, the Government is keen to promote foreign investment in this sector, thereby boosting domestic investment.
“This is an opportunity for Italian businesses to learn about investment in Vietnam, which can be co-operated in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) investments,” he said. The transport sector between Vietnam and Italy is still big, but it is necessary to prioritize and concretize the cooperation contents in order to increase investment as well as bringing about practical benefits for the two countries.
“In the immediate future, Italian businesses can invest in suitable items for Tan Son Nhat airport expansion as well as cooperation in opening direct flights between the two countries,” Deputy Minister added.
