HCM City Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong has assigned the Department of Transportation to coordinate with Long An, Tien Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Can Tho and related agencies to unify the planning of HCM City – Can Tho, submitted to the Ministry of Transport for approval.

The railway starts at Tan Kien Station (HCM City), parallel to Ring Road 2.
